Professional Background

Margaret received her Master of Science in Oral Biology * and Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene *, with a Minor in Education. She has also attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry Summer Institute in Clinical Research Methods. Margaret has an extensive background as an educator, as well as experience in clinical practice.  She recently held a faculty member position in an Online Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program. Her work in Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists is groundbreaking, in seminars, as well as testimony, journal articles, and textbooks. See Current CV.

Margaret's continuing work in Tobacco Cessation has been an asset to her community. She currently is in her fourth year as a member of Tobacco Intervention Initiative Advisory Committee for ADHA, as well as her state’s liaison. Margaret as a dental science technical writer has authored and contributed to professional journal articles and Oral Biology textbooks (as noted below), as well as professional, office, and consumer newsletters. Margaret's onsite Continuing Education Seminars have been well received nationally, as well as internationally.  She has presented at both ADHA and the American Dental Association (ADA) Annual Sessions, Yankee Dental Congress, and at three RDH Magazine's Under One Roof sessions. She also has extensive online course work available. She is available for future onsite seminars on a wide-range of topics, as well as consultation on oral health projects both onsite and online. Margaret was the recipient of both the ADHA Alfred C. Fones Award (2013, Founder of Dental Hygiene) and Award for Excellence Dental Hygiene (2009). With these awards, ADHA recognize individual dental hygienists who have made outstanding accomplishments that have a significant impact on the practice and future of the dental hygiene profession.
